Inline Image inserting

Hello. For my casual theme , I want to add an inline image (i.e. logo in this case) to head div. Because I have already used background-image property as CSS style in head div , I had to try inserting an inline image but it didnt work. How can I add inline images into the div sections of WordPress themes such as sidebar, haeder and footer.
