• I am having a 8-10 second delay, sometimes longer, from when I click on any link on my site to when the URL changes and there is any visible sign that the page is starting to load. Once the URL changes it loads pretty fast. Not a image intensive site. Somewhere I read that this can happen due to plug ins. I tried to use WP Tuner to see where the problem was, but the plug in doesnt work with the latest version of wordpress.

    Here is the site: http://www.elefintdesigns.com/test

Anyone have any ideas how I can cut down that initial delay?
    Thanks so much.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

Hey Esmi. Thanks. Yes I tried what you said. This process has certainly allowed me to pinpoint some plug-ins slowing the site down more than others, however, even with the problem ones deactivated it still has a few second delay, which at times can be up to 10 seconds or more. Its very inconsistent. This is a CMS from wordpress.org, so I cannot use the default template.

    Thanks

Is it shared hosting or your own server? could be a dns issue

It’s hosted. I will put it on another server and see if it makes a difference. Thanks
