Individual commenter blacklists

    Hi,

    Is there a plugin or other mechanism to enable commenters to set up their own blacklists? I’m on a fairly active WordPress blog that has a couple of very prolific commenters who add little value. In the interest of free speech, they are allowed to comment, but if others don’t wish to see those comments, it would be nice to support that choice.

    That sounds a bit cumbersome. The idea of free speech is interesting, but I think you give these guys too much credit. If these commenters are contributing positively, I would just blacklist them. Your users won’t even notice it, but they will probably appreciate it.

    I spent a lot of time on Usenet back in the day and appreciate the idea of letting users decide who they find worth interacting with. Surely WordPress can meet the capabilities of 30 year old technology.

    Plus, banning people just creates virtual martyrs. I like my stupid right out in public where I can see it.
