Index.php, themes will not serve on WP 3.8 or 3.7.1 (3 posts)

I'm running WordPress on a Mac for development purposes and at some point the local site stopped working. Every time I try to go to it on my machine, I get kicked out to the readme.html page after I log in. (I've had no problem with the live, public site, this is just a problem on my local machine.)

It looks like index.php isn't even being served by Apache, I'm seeing a 301 generated in the logs.

I AM able to view the admin index.php page, but I also cannot choose a template or see any templates show up ("preview") in the panel on the right when I try to select/change templates within the dashboard.

I have no .htaccess files. All permissions for the wordpress folder and all contained files/folders have been changed to 777 with chmod. I'm running Apache 2.4. OS X 10.6.8 on MacBook Pro.

This didn't used to be a problem, everything worked fine previous to 3.7.1, I think, but I don't know if I can still recover the previous installation in a backup.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm. WP works fine on my machine when I run Apache 2.2 with a somewhat different configuration instead of 2.4, maybe it's an Apache problem.

Seems to be a problem related to running SSL - if I run SSL under Apache 2.2 or 2.4, WordPress breaks. WordPress itself seems to be causing the redirect, but where this is occurring is not clear. Maybe this is because WordPress does not use protocol-relative URL's?
