index.php not working (1 post)

I'm creating a theme, and using 2.1 for the first time, but no matter what I do, index.php keeps giving me a "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE" error on Line 1. Line 1 is basically get_header;, and after about twenty times of frustratedly comparing it to Kubrick's (working) index.php, i can't see how this is the problem. I tested a theme that used to work in 2.0, and it's getting the same error as well. Only Kubrick's index.php seems to work.

Does anyone know wtf is going on here?
