I just installed wordpress and when I run index.php, all I get is a page that says "Index of \wordpress" and it lists the contents of my wordpress folder. I first created a SQL database and a SQL user. I ran the ./wp-admin/install.php and it succeeded except for the above problem. I have checked my wp-config.php file and it all is right. I installed WordPress to a sub directory /public_html/wordpress. What do I check next?

    http://www.firstchurchboxford.org/wordpress/index.php

It looks as though it might be possible that your site may not be configured to serve both the ".html" and the ".php" index file. PHP seems to be working okay, because this URL behaves as expected:

    firstchurchboxford.org/wordpress/wp-login.php

If you contact support at BlueHost, they can probably walk you through how to add the option to allow both index.html and index.php to be served from your site.

I should think it might be a simple adjustment you can make right from your hosts control panel.

ClaytonJames you were spot on. I added index.php to my .htaccess and that permitted it to load. Thank you so much!
