Hi, Im new to WordPress. I need to increase the width of my posts as they are too narrow and there is a lot of wasted space on the left. Could someone please tell me (in detail) how to do this? I also wanted to make the black footer area at the bottom of my page smaller as it is also wasting a lot of space. Thanks in advance.

thanks but its time consuming reading all that. Im just looking for a tip on how to change the size of posts not learn about theme development.

also when I try to change anything I gives me a message - "the requested theme does not exist" so I'm quite lost :)
