Incorrect link generated for uploaded file (6 posts)

I'm running WordPress 2.0.1 with only minor mods - a couple of plugins.

I'm using the default WYSIWYG editor and want to post commnts that refer to uploaded files.

The files upload fine. Checking the server shows all files as expected in .../wp-content/yyyy/mm folder as specified in the upload options.

However, in some cases, when I use the "send to editor" feature of the file upload section of "Write Post", the address of the link that is generated is of the form .../wp-admin/filename instead of .../wp-content/yyyy/mm/filename

I can't seem to reproduce this reliably -- when I've tried to follow exactly the same steps, the href value does get generated correctly (.../wp-content/yyyy/mm/filename). But I thought I'd post just in case anyone else has seen this or if anyone has info on what I might have done wrong (so I can tell my nontechnical users "don't do that").

I've only seen the error when uploading PDF files (so I tried to find a solution in the discussion of upload options -

But since the problem is not reliably reproducible, I'm not at all sure its related to file type.

    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem using WP 2.02 - german version.

If I load up a PDF file and send it to the post/editor, an incorrect link is generated like "www.domain.xy/filename.pdf"
(the file has been uploaded correctly as I checked via FTP)

If I drag the file with Firefox to the post/editor, another incorrect link is generated like "www.domain.xy/wp-content/uploads/YYYY/MM/filename.pdf"

    Please help.
    Thanx a lot!

There's definitely a known bug with the link created when you drag and drop the file to the editor when using Firefox.

Clicking the image and selecting "Send to Editor" should work fine though.

    Thanks, HandySolo.

You're right, it works correctly with images.
But it does not work with i.e. uploaded PDF-files.

    I double checked it.

    Any ideas?

    This thread seems related: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/82791?replies=4

Last post links to a bug in trac that may have a patch.
