I think there is an error in the step by step documentation upgrading wpmu 2.6 to 2.7. Step 3 to step 8 is redundent and partly incorrect. To upgrade correcty, you have to keep and edit your existing wp-content as well as your .htaccess and your wp-config.php. You have to keep also wp-admin and wp-includes of your old version.
