   Hi,

   i have a wordpress 2.8.6 installation on my webspace. Everything works fine but if someone post a link to my blog at identi.ca or at his blog I don't get a trackback comment.

   I have tried everything I can think of:
   - disable all plugins
   - switched to the wordpress default theme

   In Discussion Settings I have enabled:
   - Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)
   - Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)
   - Allow people to post comments on new articles
   - Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
   - Enable threaded (nested) comments
   - Break comments into pages with
   - Anyone posts a comment
   - A comment is held for moderation

   But nothing works. I still get not trackbacks. :-(

   I already thought about the possibility that it has something to do with my webspace provider. Does Trackbacks/Pingbacks need a special open port, a special php library,...? Could the problem be connected anyhow with my provider?

   I have the same problem.
   Initially the trackbacks worked if I put them in manually and the pingbacks worked for wordpress blogs automatically.
   Now the pingbacks do not work automatically and even if I manually put the trackback/pingbacks information into the system into the 'send trackbacks' section I still get no joy.
   Like you I have disabled all plugins, installed WP 2.9.2 and allowed all access for comments etc and every box required is checked...but still no trackbacks or pingbacks are being recorded.
   Any help greatly appreciated
