Support » Fixing WordPress » inbound links and deleted posts access

  • Dear Sirs:

In my Dashboard, I am noting many inbound links pointing to posts that were deleted from my blog long ago. These were just unintelligible, garbage posts when learning how to use my blog, were eliminated fairly quickly, and now point to an error 404 page. Are these deleted posts still retained in the program/database where they can somehow be accessed by me or others, as my remaining visible postings have higher numbers assigned to them? Or were these inbound links more likely developed/spidered quickly at the time I posted and the links left staying on other websites after deleting the posts from my blog? How do I eliminate all of the inbound link prompts on my Dashboard after investigating their source(s), as there are a multitude of them starting to clutter up my Dashboard page. As always, thank you in advance for any help you are able to give.
