WP-PostViews
inaccurate counting? (7 posts)

    Hello,

    According to WP-Postviews, the number of views of any one page of our blog keeps going up, whereas the stats counter that keeps detailed track of every visit to that (or any) page remains the same, showing that that page has not been visited.

    How can that be? Does the WP-Postviews plugin count non existing visits?

    Thanks for a clarification,
    H. Pelissier

    The same thing with me - all the services like google analitics show at least three times less visits, than WP-Postviews. Looks like it coun bots and robots too... Even if we force it not to count them.

    Hi.
    Thanks for your plugin.
    if this plugin counts each visitor as only one view per a time period like 24 hours or etc , it will be better and detailed.
    is there any way to do this?

    Hi, I've finally solved this problem, switching on http://wordpress.org/plugins/ajax-hits-counter/ - it's not so popular, but very good as well. Moreover, it can import the statistic from WP-PostViews. And it starts to count more accurate then - no more bots and spammers.

    @th90: nope not possible
    @chewriter: it filters only popular/limited bots listed usseragent. If you have WP_CACHE set to true, it might not count bots because it uses JS and bots don't load JS (it is the same way AJAX Hits Counter does it)

    @Lester Chan: no, I do not use WP_CACHE due to possible issues. I found this topic with the same problem, and due to no answer was for the question, decided to try something other. It works, so no problem. I know, it is not impossible to please everyone - so just change the plugin was the quickest solution.
    But I really appreciate your efforts with other plugins - I use WP-PageNavi and WP-Polls also - they are really outstanding and working without any issues. Thank's a lot!
