That would depend on what you mean by “improved”.
The link is bad and since many of us have no idea what Jerome’s Search does it is impossible to answer. You are running the beta – does it do what Jerome’s plugin does?
Sorry about the link, I couldn’t get his site to open either so perhaps it is down. Here is the description for the plugin as seen in the Plugins Site Admin panel:
“Extends WordPress’ search to include post excerpts and meta values. Also adds page searching from David B. Nagle’s Search Pages plugin.”
@beel:
“You are running the beta – does it do what Jerome’s plugin does?”
I don’t know. I am asking if WP2.0b1 already includes the improvements to the search engine described in the above plugin.
Thanks!
I just figured if you deactivated the plugin, did a search on any post excerpt, meta value or page content, you would know. Simple enough.
I don’t think it does so you will probably need to keep the plugin for now. But I bet you won’t take my word for it and will test it yourself anyway… so my original post is back into play ;-).
Okay Beel, you got me :). For anyone who may find this helpful, WP 2.0 b1 does NOT search pages without the help of a plugin, such as Jerome’s Search (Google it for link- doesn’t seem to work at the moment). Also, Jerome’s Search seems to conflict with Livesearch, such as used in the K2 theme, by not displaying the search value in the header of the results page. Just FYI.
Apparently no, it doesn’t.
Just tried
http://randomfrequency.net/wordpress/search-pages/
after reading the “Apparently no” comments above. One file, minutes and seconds to download and activate, instead of no results – many pages.

randomfrequency mentions only for 1.5, so don’t know whole story, but it seems effective.
