in my Media Settings my thumbnails are 150x150 and set to crop

image quality is pretty bad on these thumbnails. click one of the thumbnails to see the fullsize image and see the difference: http://chrislaursen.com/photowall

i searched these forums and the web and didn't find any relevant answers for WP 3.1.1 thumbnail quality changes. please help

For images that are really important I create the thumbnail with Photoshop. That way I have control of actual size, croppping, color, unsharp mask, etc. and then link it to the full size image.

WP does a good job on images but it is the shotgun approach.

thing is i have different ways of browsing my posts and one way uses the large thumbnail (800 width x whatever height) and i'd rather not have to make two thumbnails per post, i would think there must be a way to get higher image quality, i'm willing to sacrifice a few kilobytes for it.

I am also interested in knowing if there is a solution for this! For me, it is not just the thumbnails, but all of the WordPress-generated images (i.e., the "medium" size as well). Since the thumbnails are already generated, I'd rather not have to make my own for every image that I upload. I don't mind the shotgun approach to cropping, but as for the quality, I'd like it to be much higher!
