improve importer/exporter tools

I’m trying to work out a system to work on my sites locally and then bring them back to the live server. Currently, I’m trying to make use of the exporter/importer tool to do this, but there are constantly problems with posts not showing up and things like this. I think what happens is that post revisions/drafts become the post in use, rather than the published post, and so that post is not visible. THis is really a problem when you have a ton of posts.

I’d love to see a really comprehensive export/importer tool. Or at evaluate the current one and make some improvements.
