I've had issues with the wordpress import/export feature as it doesn't seem like a good way to backup/migrate wordpress sites. Recently I just discovered that it doesn't seem to preserve Category hierarchy, all all my sub-categories (of which there are a lot in this site) have become tier 1 categories!
Is there a trick or a better way to migrate a wordpress site? Post attachments is another flaming issue with this as well.
Might try backing up your database then restoring it. Then use FTP to download the files from old site/hsot to your local computer, then use FTP to upload those files to your new site/host

Yeah I guess phpMyadmin is the way to go as the built-in import/export feature also doesn't seem to include registered users. Not quite sure what the point of having a crippled feature like this is.
Thanks for the links.

This is causing my migration of one particular blog to a WP 3.0 multi-site to be a real pain in the neck.
