importing the categories from Google Places

You could conceivably import listings that have Google Places as their categories, but you can’t import just the categories using the CSV import mechanism. The only other suggestion I would have is importing WP categories directly (since BD’s categories are just a custom taxonomy). You’d need to reference the custom taxonomy type during import, but I don’t know off hand how to even import JUST categories, only listings with categories.

You might ask on the WP forums to see if they have suggestions.

Same answer as above: you can’t import just the categories using the CSV import mechanism. It’s intended for full listings.
