• Hello!

I’m currently using Movable Type, but I’d really like to switch to WordPress. The only thing stopping me is the fact that I’ve been using a custom fields hack/plugin for Movable Type to store “current music” data for posts. I did get Movable Type to export my data with an additional MUSIC bit for each post.

I know WordPress will let me add this information to my posts without the need for hacks and plugins. However, I’m a bit daunted by the prospect of having to manually re-enter this information for five years’ worth of posts, and am wondering if there’s a way to get the import script to pick up on this MUSIC metadata (it’s in the same format as all the other metadata like KEYWORDS and EXTENDED ENTRY, etc, with the right separators) and add this to each imported entry as a custom field?

I am comfortable modifying the code to do this… I just don’t know PHP that well, and although I did find the right place to add code to parse the bit in the file when importing, I didn’t see an obvious way to add this to a custom field for each post.

I would also be willing to import my entries normally, and then do something with SQL to move the raw info bewteen database tables, if that would be easier. (Probably!)

Any pointers would be much appreciated! Thanks.
