Importing from Blogspot (9 posts)

    Hi,

I've looked through the forums but can't find a solution.

I have tried to import a blog from Blogspot. When I click on import, WP doesn't give me the choice to select which blog to bring over. So that's a problem, because it's not picking the right thing. Does the same thing whether I am already logged in or have to log in after being prompted.

Then, when I tried exporting from Blogspot and using the Blogger2wordpress online app/tool, my posts *did* come over -- but they are not showing up on the site. From my home page, you can see the links but no pictures, and when you click on a link, there's a 404.

    Any ideas???

    Thanks,

    Holly

There are a few things that could be causing this. It would help to know:

    1. What the URL of your WordPress site is
    2. What the URL of your Blogspot site is
    3. What plugins you have installed, if any
    4. and what WordPress theme you're using. If you have a link to the theme that'd help too, but it's not entirely necessary

    Thank you, George.

    1. http://tropichomeandfamily.com is my WP.
    2. http://tropichomeandfamily.blogspot.com is my blogger.
    3. Plugins are Blogger Importer and Redirection, but I haven't used these plugins yet.
    4. Theme is eNews by Elegant Themes (http://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/theme-additions/new-theme-enews).

Was hoping to migrate and have a fresh site by Monday! :)

    Thanks,

    Holly

If you haven't tried the Blogger Importer plugin yet, then I suggest you should. The methods you've tried so far wouldn't be the way that I would go about it at all.

Thank you, Tigtog. The methods I tried are the ones that had been recommended to me -- I'll go ahead and try the plugin now.

    Thanks,

    Holly

OK, I installed and activated the plugin, tried to import from Blogger again and got the same error message as before without the plugin:

The page you have requested cannot be displayed. Another site was requesting access to your Google Account, but sent a malformed request. Please contact the site that you were trying to use when you received this message to inform them of the error. A detailed error message follows:

The site "http://tropichomeandfamily.com" has not been registered.

Hmm... It really should be working fine. Try deactivating the theme you have and using the Default theme. See if that impacts anything. Deactivate any non-importer plugins, too.

    I found the solution here:

    http://bloggertowp.org/solution-error-the-site-has-not-been-registered-during-wordpress-import/#comment-12234

Basically, I had to re-register my domain with Google and prove I am who I say I am.

Then I ran into another problem and was getting the following error message:

AuthSub target path prefix does not match the provided "next" URL.

Turns out when you register, you're asked for something called an AuthSub, and it's wp-admin, as I learned here on the WordPress forums:

Maybe this thread will be helpful to someone in the future.

Awesome! Sorry I couldn't help on this one. Not familiar with blogger at all haha.

Glad you solved this, be sure to mark it as "resolved"
