• I have just imported a site from WordPress.com which used the 20-11 theme.

In the newly imported self-hosted site, many of the features have disappeared and I wondered if anyone else had this trouble?

Galleries no longer work as before
Many of the Widgets have gone completely
    Page layouts are different
    Contact forms have dissapeared

Any advice on how to fix these gratefully received.
    Tx Graham

  • Self-hosted means you have to add your own plugins and work with your own theme options; you have more options with self-hosted than .com, but that means you have to make more settings and choices. Some options and details are not transferred in the WXR process as it would make the import process much more complex.

Widget choices won’t import from .com; you need to set those up for the new theme and possibly add plugins that duplicate the original widgets. Page layouts will be different because page template settings are not imported, even using the same theme, and theme page layout options are not transferred. You need to add your own contact form plugin.

    Yes, Im learning that.

Have found many widgets thru the use of Plugins along with forms.

Any suggestions for good galleries? The .com 20-11 had a fantastic gallery feature. Do I do that via Plugins too?

    Tx Graham
