I have a client who wants to redesign his website using WordPress. He currently has a blog that's been around for a few years and is currently hosted by TypePad.

What's involved in moving a blog from TypePad to his new (static) website to be created in WordPress? Will his current subscribers have to re-subscribe? How easy is it to make the switch?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. Movable Type or TypePad? Different procedures: Importing Content « WordPress Codex. And Installing WordPress « WordPress Codex. And then redirect people from the old site to the new, if possible, with htaccess, depending on what's available at Movable Type or Typepad.

Thanks for your response. It is TypePad. Sorry for the confusion. So to maintain the redirect, do we need to keep the TypePad account or will the htaccess take care of that?

  4. Doesn't look like TypePad will let you use anything like htaccess unless you have a Pro account, and then you can map some sort of redirect. Ask them. If you have standard typepad account, you'll have to use link(s) to redirect.
