import problem - missing files (5 posts)

I am migrating my site from one hosting company to another. I have the lastest version of wordpress running on the new host as well as the old one. I go to the export page and download the xml file to my computer. I then sign in to my new wordpress blog. At the import page I click import. Everything seems to be going fine. I then click "view my website". The new blog has all of the older listings but I am missing the last six months of posts. Aug 07 to Jan 08 do not appear. What am I doing wrong?

The file size is about 650k.
    No images imported.
The first month with images was Aug 07.
I received no error codes at any time.

Could using images have stopped the xml file from including all the posts from that time onward?

    I'm into guessing right now.

why didn't you try to backup your wp blog to *sql file, its more easier than *.xml file (cmiiw) :)

I have exactly the same problem: missing the last 6 months of posts after importing a WordPress .xml-file, even though I can see the missing posts and comments in the xml-file. Is there something wrong with the file? It's too late to create a sql-file because my website moved to another hosting...

Never mind, everything is okay now thanks to a backup file in sql-format from the hosting company. Hope that nub1 also solved his problem!
