Support » Fixing WordPress » import problem ?

  • hi everybody.
at the moment i have a wordpress blog, but i’ll have to move it on my own server (with different layout etc..) so i installed wordpress on my server, everything with the DB is ok (i think), but i can’t import my old post form my current wordpress blog (http://musesinstalline.wordpress.com/). so i received a xml file, but when i try to upload it on my new blog it comes the following message:

    Import WordPress

Sorry, there has been an error.

Unable to create directory /home/egdob/public_html/crystalline/wp-content/uploads/2007/07. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

i tried several times, with different xml files, but there’s no effect. i’m thing that maybe there is some kind of talking at cross-purposes between the DB on wordpress and that new DB on my own server. (on my server it’s just a fresh copy of wordpress 2.2)…and i’m think that’s the problem (actually i’m not a Db fan, sorry for that silly question anyway). am…any ideas where the problem could be ? suggestions how to fix it ?

    thanks is advance!

  • The problem, like the error message tells you already, lies in the fact that your wp-content folder is not writeable. You have to change permissions (a.k.a. CHMOD) to 777.

Hi I am having the same problem despite changing permissions to 777. It is still giving that error message. What could be the problem?
