I have uploaded wordpress-importer 0.2 and exported my current WP blog (hosted on .com) but I can only import the tags and categories. No posts, pages or media are imported but the import file is uploaded with a .txt suffix (wordpress.2010-06-18.xml.txt). I have deleted and reinstalled the plug in and tried several different export files. I used the same export file yesterday to import into 2.9 fine so I don't think it's the export file.
Can anyone help me please. Thanks
Why are you using an import/export plugin? There's a perfectly usable import/export tool in the Tools sub-menu.

I've been having trouble too, but I am using the export/import tools provided by wordpress.
I export the file from WordPress.com and import it to the site built with .org, but none of the posts are coming through. When the import is taking place it just stops at line 278 and gives no indication if it's finished or not. It just stops.
I can't imagine what I'm missing.

Same problem here! i had exported posts of a specific category a while back, and now when i try to import the file it only imports the tags and categories, no posts.

I'm having this problem too - upload stops after line xxx
I'm uploading a wordpress export of my site taken before moving to wordpress 3.0.
I installed the import plugin (this used to be included with wordpress did it not?) - it doesn't work - have tried multiple times. not sure what else to do!!

To all those experiencing this problem; can you get a look at your apache/php error log and see what error is being reported?
