import not preserving links (3 posts)

I have a directory of .htm files on my computer, and all the links contained within them are consistent and navigate fine whenever they are found in the same directory.

After I import them into WordPress though, the links no longer work because WP keeps adding a section to the URL depending on which page you are CURRENTLY on when you click a link.

For example, if I'm currently on page A (which is located at URL http://www.mydomain.com/locationA) and I click on a link to page B (whose URL is http://www.mydomain.com/locationB) wordpress is throwing in an extra piece to the slug like so: http://www.mydomain.com/locationA/locationB.

Or if I'm at location C clicking a link to B it generates http://www.mydomain.com/locationC/locationB as if whatever page I'm currently on should have anything at all to do with the page I'm linking to. And so every link on my site ends up going to the homepage because the domains the links point towards don't exist.

Is there a simple way to tell wordpress not to add that extra piece of URL?
    thanks

Due to the very many manners that themes or plugins, including your added html could cause issues to arise, it would be beneficial on your part to provide specific site links (not examples).

Nevermind I figured out a solution.

Next, I cannot figure out how to create a page and edit its extension simply from html to htm.

the permalink I set to custom as "/%category%/%postname%.HTM" but yet WP makes them all HTML anyway?

Most of my internal links end in .htm#___ with a #code that opens with the view halfway down the page. Miraculously, these .htm# links work in spite of WP creating them all with .html But the links without the # do not.
