[resolved] Import from wp-table-reloaded silently fails (8 posts)

    Hi!

I've tried migrating from wp-table-reloaded to tablepress. However, the import into tablepress, whether it's from wp-table-reloaded or from the dump, silently fails on 1 of the tables.

How do I determine what's wrong with that table? (and how do I fix it?)

    Hi Evert,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

What does "silenty fails" mean here? How do you then know that a table is missing after the migration?

And can you please check (in WP-Table Reloaded), if there are tables with a name like "(no name)" and a description like "(no description)"? For those tables, the internal data got somehow corrupted so that they can not be read from the database. It might be possible that this causes the problems, if you have such tables in WP-Table Reloaded.

    Regards,
    Tobias

It 'craps' out after processing table 7. I have no table 8 (anymore), but I do have a table 9. Could the missing table be the problem?

    Hi,

and table 8 works fine in WP-Table Reloaded?

If possible, I'd like to take a look at this directly on your site. Could you maybe contact me via email (the address is in the main plugin file "tablepress.php") with details for a temporary admin account?

    Thanks!
    Tobias

Turns out 2 tables (9 & 13) have gotten corrupted. I've deleted them, and then the migration went fine.

Now I'll start digging for a backup that may contain the original data for those tables so I can reconstruct them ;)

Thanks for your swift replies, and keep up the good work! :)

    Hi,

great to hear that you found the corrupted tables. Those were then skipped during the migration, which is why they are missing.

Yes, you'll have to restore them from a backup then. Sorry for the extra work. That problem with corrupted tables is one of the main reasons why I replaced WP-Table Reloaded with TablePress, as this problem can not happen in TablePress.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

The migration broke on the corrupted table, it didn't merely skip it...

Unfortunately the corruption apparently happened aeons ago, and I haven't the foggiest where I keep those old, old backups. Luckily the Wayback Machine helped me out with recovering the original data, so now all is fine again :)

    Hi,

ok, it shouldn't break in that situation, but just skip the corrupted tables. Thanks for letting me know, I'll investigate this again, so that it doesn't happen to other people in the future!

The idea with recovering a HTML version from the Wayback Machine is great, I need to remember that! :-)

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
