[resolved] Import Failure (5 posts)

I have a WordPress blog at englishadvantage.info which I just updated to 3.0. I also installed WordPress at englishadvantage.info/testblog so I could set up a test blog to play with twenty ten.

I imported my pages and posts from the first blog. Everything appears to work fine, no error messages. However no posts or pages are imported.

Tried reexporting and reimporting. Did nothing. Made sure that the permalink/archive settings were the same for both blogs as well as the date and time formats. Still doesn't work. Couldn't find any recent forum posts on this topic.

I must be missing something really obvious.

I now note that it imported all categories and tags but not posts or pages. I tried making an export file that was only posts, but again the import process went fine except for the bit where it didn't actually import any posts!

  3. You may need to increase PHP's memory allocation, maximum upload size, or maximum execution time. Follow the methods detailed in this FAQ:

Thanks. Actually when I looked back at the xml file size to see if I did need to take those steps, I realized I was importing the XML while it was still downloading i.e. I was only importing the first part of my blog.

    I'm an idiot.

  5. You're welcome! I'm glad you found a solution.
