Import Blogger Files - Is it possible? (8 posts)

Please excuse me if this has been answered already, I'm having a hard time finding any info on. I just want to know if it's possible.

    First a little background...

I've been running a blog on WordPress for over 2 years. I loved it! Then my hosting company lost my entire DB and (yes I know I'm an idiot) I didn't have a back up. So I lost ALL my content. I salvaged a good majority from google cache and rebuilt my site using blogger because it was quick and I wanted to get up and running as soon as possible as to not lose readers.

I figured I'd host my own blogger files and at least I would have raw HTML of my posts that I could back up and possible import into something in the future.

    So on to the questions...

1.) is there any way to import blogger files into wordpress? And I mean ones you host yourself not from the blogger DB.

2.) If that is possible, and at this point my hopes are not high, is there away to mimic the blogger URL for page addresses?

I hope this makes sense, I just want to get back to wordpress, I miss it, and honestly, BLOGGER SUCKS! I've hacked it to get what I want but I miss the flexibility of wordpress. Just in case you are curious...

Nope. That only works if you hosted your blog with blogger (as far as I know). Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think there is a way to import blogger files to wordpress. As in I hosted blogger myself.

As I said in the subject, just wondering if it is possible.

RSS import? (mentioned on the same page as earlier)

Heck, I didn't even know you could host blogger yourself. :-)

You cannot import the blogger files, but if you still have all your posts in blogger and didn't delete the account or anything, then it's easy.
    1. Go to blogger and change your blog to be on a blogspot.com domain instead of self-hosted. This won't lose your posts, you're just changing it to be Blogspot hosted instead of hosted by FTP.

    Really simple, actually.

    Awesome!

I didn't think of that. So I can basically have blogger host my blog just long enough to import? That's what we are saying right? Ugh! I'm such and idiot! Perfect!

Ok so a few questions, hoping you guys know.

If I do that will my URL's change. you know...

    http://domain.com/year/month/post_title.htm

Can I mimic that format in 'pretty permalinks'? Is that and htaccess thing? Can someone point me in the right direction for that kind of info?

I just don't want all my link to be broken from post to post. I link a lot to old posts in new posts.

Thanks for all the info guys! I'm really starting to pull my hair out on this blogger thing.

The permalink thing is a dealbreaker for me. Is there no way to mimick blogger's structure?
