On wordpress.com hosted blogs, it is possible to post to your blog, using the TwitterAPI. This makes it possible to use twitterclients, like tweetdeck, for posting to your own (micro)blog (not just Twitter).

I searched but couldn't find anything like this for self-hosted blogs. Is anyone developing this? Using a plugin? I would like to test this!

I don't know the answer to your question, because I use self-hosted blogs.
Ironically, it sounds like I'm asking something you want to get rid off.

Hi sorry, I should've stated that I'm on a self-hosted website.

If you can make this dialog box go away somehow then Christmas will have come early for me! :-)

Do you have any older plugins that use the old twitter authentication with username/password? Instead of OAuth integration?

No that's the thing. I have deactivate all the plugins that are remotely linked to Twitter so I have no idea where this login box is coming from :-(
The plugins currently active are:

To be honest, I probably have way too many useless plugins on this list, but I've checked the description to these and they don't seem to relate to Twitter... unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious. I'm a bit of an amateur to be honest...

Do you import automatically RS feeds from twitter?
Your list is quite impressive indeed! ;P
So, the only, bit time-consuming, thing to do is "deactivate" them all, and "Reactivate" one-by-one. And test your site with every activation of a plugin...
