I have a multisite installation of wordpress and it was working great. but yesterday my subdomain blog stopped loading images. I don't know what the problem might be cause I didn't change anything (except one of plugins that disabling it didn't solve the problem).

2. We need more data.

What shows instead of the image? Can you visit the image directly? Did you enable any hotlink protection?

I studied this problem carefully and found out the image files received are corrupt. They have

inserted at the beginning of the file and file size not changed. So obviously there is some bytes missing at the end.
I reupdate the network every time this problem occurs and I should say that this is very often. My primary domain works fine but my subdomain both in dashboard and site itself gets this.
Any idea?

4. Inserted where? In the post content?

Do they work in the media library?

In the file itself. I have downloaded the image and opened it in a hex editor.
Media library is also corrupt. The main site is OK but subdomains no. I have created a new empty site without any plugin and inserted an image into first post. Result is the same, after about 18 ours images load corrupted.
SEO plugin is enabled for all network, but if this plugin has issue, why main site doesn't affected?

6. What happens if you FTP the image down. Is it still corrupted?

Have you talked to your host about this?

What makes you mention the SEO plugin? You said disabling did NOT solve the problem, so it's probably not that.

Images are OK cause every time I reupdate network, problem will go and within a few hours occurs again.
I don't think this is related to host, I don't have any problem with main site.
I haven't disable SEO plugin, but yesterday I did and it didn't help.

8. I don't think this is related to host, I don't have any problem with main site.

Talk to them anyway. You'd be surprised.

Does going to the IMAGE directly work, though?

So I get that domain.com/foo/postname that has an image is busted.

But what about domain.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/2013/06/image.jpg

There are multiple ways to view an image, you see, so we need to figure out where the image stops working.

site2.foo.com/files/2013/06/image-430x247.jpg loads corrupted but site2.foo.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/2013/06/image-430x247.jpg loads fine.

same problem since yesterday suddenly. it seems the .htaccess url rewrite stopped working. I also can't access any of the subblogs anymore.

@sortofme have you tried reupdate the network? It solves the problem for me temporarily so I don't think it is a .htaccess problem.

yea, done that, and about everything I could think of: remove plugins folder, reupdate permalinks, reinstall wp 3.5.2. None of the links work, not even the ones from the main blog...
desperate, no idea how to resolve this, about 40 blogs are dead....

13. site2.foo.com/files/2013/06/image-430x247.jpg loads corrupted but site2.foo.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/2013/06/image-430x247.jpg loads fine.

Okay so this means that PHP (which is what parses site2.foo.com/files/ into site2.foo.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/) stopped working.

What's in your .htaccess?

Does this work on any other subdomain sites?
