Images replacing Category text plugin? (3 posts)

    I'm looking for a plugin that supports replacing all instances of the category name with an image, which is different for each category (looking to remove text entirely from the category). I tried out Category Icons, located at:

    http://devcorner.georgievi.net/wp-plugins/wp-category-icons/

    But that doesn't seem to want to work with 2.0.1. I also tried simply sticking an img src= declaration into the category name upon creation, but WP was too smart for me and didn't convert it into html.

    Anyone know of anything that can help me out?

    Hi Icithis,
    I found somewhere a way to do that without any plugin:
    insert the following code in any template you want your category icon to apear (the main page, archives etc) right after <div class="post">:
    <a href="<?php echo get_settings('home'); ?>/?cat=<?php the_category_ID(); ?>" rel="bookmark" title="עוד רשימות במדור זה"><img src="<?php the_category_ID(); ?>.gif" /></a>
    now all you have to do is to upload your category icons to your root directory and to name them with the id number of the category you want them to asign to (like: 1.gif, 2.gif, etc)
    hope this helps

    That helps a bit, however that doesn't help with replacing the dynamic category list.

    <?php wp_list_cats('sort_column=name&optioncount=1&hierarchical=0'); ?>

    This is what is used to call the categories, and I need these text links which are generated to be different images, not text.
