• Am I ever going to get a response here? This is at least my third time to enter this serious problem. In the “Add New Post” page is a “Set featured image” in the lower right-hand corner. I have used that for years to put up the .jpg graphic of a record cover with the reviews I publish. Suddenly one day absolutely nothing appeared when I clicked on Set featured image and then added a .jpg to the image library. The only workaround I could find was to quit Safari and restart it; then graphics would appear on that one but not on the next. Now it only happens about once a day, and restarting the browser fixes it. What could be happening to cause this? Very frustrating.
(Previously Photoshop Elements sometimes left off the .jpg and therefore WP refused it, but I think that was different thing.)

  • What theme are you using? Have you started troubleshooting by deactivating ALL plugins and switching to the default theme?

Before I go as far as disabling plugins and switching to the default theme, I would first start by trying a new browser… maybe Firefox or something. See if the problem persists in any other browser. The reason I mention this is you stated:

If simply closing the browser fixes your issue, then it sounds more like a browser issue than a WordPress issue. WordPress would still be broken when you launched the browser again. It is possible that a plugin could be causing the issue and that restarting the browser also resets the plugin, but that’s weird to me.

If the problem persists in a different browser, try WPyogi’s suggestion…

Thanks for the responses. WP was set up to work only with Safari I think, but I’ll give Firefox a try. Yesterday it didn’t happen at all. Do you mean WP plug-ins or plug-ins anywhere on the iMac? Didn’t know about them; where do I find them? And Elements seems to have stopped leaving off the .jpg on graphics.

WordPress shouldn’t need any browser set-up – except for possible password/cookie functions.

You said in your other thread that you’d tried other browsers? That’s why I suggested deactivating the plugins on your WP site.

Can you try Firefox again? Also make sure you are clearing any browser caches/cookies.

Yes, I meant WP plugins (not Safari or your iMac). If the browser steps don’t work, try deactivating all the plugins on your WP site.
