Hi, I've recently updated to the latest version and now all my images have disappeared in the box and instead now shows a default picture on all the related posts. Please advise how to resolve.

    Thanks

I am having the same trouble with Related Posts...I have IMAGES on ALL of my posts but they do not show up in Related Posts. I thought maybe I had to set Featured Image on each one so I went and did that. No such luck. I am frustrated and ready to remove it. It says in the helps that it will pull the image if there is one. I don't want an apple or a piece of wheat showing up and on some there is nothing but a black box! Please help!
    Thank you!

Hey Nannette, big thanks for reaching out on this matter, since we are very eager to help you out on this as soon as possible!

But I'm afraid we are not able to take a closer look at it, since it seems that you have already deactivated your Related Posts plugin. Any chance you could activate it back on, so we could help you out on this?

Also — I've noticed that although all images in your blogposts load up normally, they seem to be broken on the main page of your blog. Is this the way it's supposed to be or are we missing something out? Here's a screenshot I've made, just to make sure we're looking at the same thing: http://cl.ly/image/1Y0u2r1s1n1g/o

Not to forget — here's a link to the previous, older version of our plugin, which should work normally and load all your thumbnails correctly

Let me know what's up and I'll do my best to help you out!

    Take care!

    Silvo

My apologies! I had no idea anyone would respond that quickly! I just decided to delete it until I saw someone post on it. My husband tells me I need to work on my patience. I apologize :(

As far as teh images loading I have no idea! I looked at the screeshot and there are no pictures there! I've never had that trouble before! No one has ever mentioned there being a problem.

I have reactivated the plugin so you can see it. I appreciate your help.

The images problem seems to be just on the home page...when I click on a particular post the image will show up but no images will show on the home page. This has just happened this morning. I have no idea if this is something with Bluehost or what has happened. Oh crud!

Hey, no problem, we're just glad we have someone to cooperate with — much appreciated! :)

We are already investigating closely what could be going on on your blog, but we'd like to ask you for one more favor, if you would be so kind.

Could you go to this blogpost of yours, click on the 'Edit' button, check if the image already inserted in your post is set as featured — if not, set it as featured, if yes, leave it as featured — and click on the 'Update' button.

    Here's your blogpost we're looking at: http://69.195.124.107/~hopeint7/2013/05/08/treasures-in-jars-of-clay/

We would be really glad if you could do this for us, since we'll be waiting on the other side to see how our plugin behaves and that this way we will hopefully be able spot the cause of your problem.

Let us know, we are eagerly waiting for results! And big thanks for all your feedback, truly appreciated!

    Best,
    Silvo

Sorry about the delay, I had company! I was doing that before I wrote you, setting the featured image on each post but I wasn't making a difference, then after I reactivated it and made sure I had the right downloaded version I started doing that again and it seemed like that was working. I had redone about five of them before I was invaded with family :)

I am sorry I cannot do the one you are now asking as I am in the road. I thought I could do it on my iPhone as I do have the WordPress App installed but when you go to Set Featured Image and click it says choose photo and you click From Library you would assume it would take you to the media library where you had uploaded the pictures in the post!! And all other posts! Not the case.. It just takes you to your camera roll...or you can take a picture. How crazy is that? So the set featured image feature is worthless on the mobile app :(

But I do believe that may have solved the problem. I just won't be able to work on it again until later this evening. I apologize.

hello Silvo, I just wondered if you had figured out what was wrong with my blog and the images not showing up on my homepage. It still is not working today. When a user logs in to http://www.hopeinthehealing.com no images appear at all. When they then click on a separate link or post the images will show up, even for the same post. I cannot figure it out! If the same post is on the home page and the images are not showing up when they first open it up but then they actually click on it the images will show up. But otherwise the entire homepage is blank! This is a whole new thing, I am totally baffled. Suggestions?

The Related Posts problem seems to be fixed by setting the Featured Image for each post. :)

    Hi all,

version 2.8 has a new, improved thumbnailer.
    Please give it a try.

In some cases it might need time to generate thumbnails in the background, so please don't uninstall it immediately.

    Best, Jure

my related posts isnt working either. i have tried everything i can think of to fix it but having no luck. it is showing up crappy generic images that arent mine. also seems that my option to select the featured image that was used for the related post image is no longer there. how do i get it back? its really frustrating me! :-(
this is my site here http://www.vanessabrown.com.au

although most of the ones on there are working as i can only use OLD posts to 'relate to' which is really not good for my business. it needs to show links to other of my latest/best work not my old stuff.
    please can someone help?

Hey Vanessa, thanks for reaching out, I'll gladly help!

Are the images in your posts actually inserted into your blog posts content or are they displayed by linking out to same other place where they are stored?

Are those older blog posts that have the correct thumbnail somehow differently edited as those newer ones with false, generic thumbnails? If yes, how?

Do you use some special plugin for inserting your images in your posts?

You mentioned that you don't have the 'Featured image' option in your Media Gallery/create-new-post page anymore, which is really weird to me. Any chance you could send me a screenshot of that page? I'd really love to take a closer look, if possible.

I'm sorry for all these questions above, but I am very eager to help you out here. Let me know what's up and I'll do my best to get this sorted ASAP! I'm looking forward to your reply!

Take care & have a nice day!

    Silvo

Hi Silvo, thanks for such a speedy response :-) thankyou for helping. I will get a screenshot for you.

The images in my posts are there by inserting a gallery into the blog post.
the older blogs that have the correct thumbnails are ones that i did when i first installed the 'related images' plugin. then when i did an update of my template then everything from then on stopped working. I used to select an image and upload it as the featured imaged (which is the image that the related posts plugin used). and now there is no where for me to upload a featured image which means the plugin doesnt have one :-(
(i hope this makes sense, i'm not that great at speaking technically with these things).

I hope i answered all your questions and i'll go get the screenshot now to show you

You cannot upload screenshots on these forums. Try using a resource like http://snag.gy/ and post the screenshot urls here instead.

Hey Vanessa, or you can just send me an email on support[at]zemanta[dot]com.

The theme you are using is the "photocrati-theme-v4.5", right? If this theme doesn't allow you to create featured images, then I would recommend you to use the custom field option, which is a simple way of creating custom thumbnails for your related posts, but when that featured image option is unavailable. Like in your case.

Just follow the steps below and you should be good to go in no-time!

First, go to the create-new-post page or — even better — in one of your previous already-published-posts. On the right top corner you should see the 'Screen Options' button; click on it for the drop-down menu to open. After that, tick the box next to 'Custom Fields'.

Now you should be able to see a new box below the editor called 'Custom Fields'. Create new custom field, name your image that you would later like to use it as a thumbnail for this specific post (something like "My thumbnail"), enter the URL of the image you would like to use and finish with the click on the button "Add Custom Field". Of course, don't forget to save this draft, or publish the post when you're ready.

After that, visit the settings of (y)our plugin and scroll down to the bottom. The option called "Use custom field for thumbnails" should now be available, tick the box next to it, and select the value you've set up before.

Now, the important thing is this: the value of the Custom Field stays the same for every new post, while the URL of the image (obviously) changes. In other words: the name of the Custom Field stays the same, images change. That's because once you set up your settings in the plugin settings (when you choose which value our the Custom Field our plugin should use for the thumbnails), you won't have to change it again in the future. This saves you a lot of time & hassle.

Once you have set this up, you just add a Custom Field with every new post, set the image you want to use for the thumbnail, while the name stays the same. Also worth noting is that you should keep the images you want to use for thumbnails as square as possible and that they're not too big. The perfect size would be 151x151 pixels (or bigger), but that is not that crucial. Just don't use the biggest images you can find, because this can return you some problems.

Sorry for this long, too-long response and please — do not hesitate to get back to me if anything was unclear or if you have any kind of additional questions. I'll be more than glad to help you out!

Looking forward to your reply! Take care!

    Best,
    Silvo

Hey, thanks for the link, although I wasn't able to take a closer look at it, because of the small resolution of the Facebook photo. You can send it over on my email address: support@zemanta.com

Also — have you tried that suggestion I described above? Let me know, I'm eager to find out!
