   I'm planning to move WordPress to my root directory. Can I leave my images folder at the root level or will this create problems with WordPress?

   If you used the absolute path to point to your images, then it should be no problem.

   Before you move the entire WordPress, here's a quicker way - http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

   I've always used the absolute path for my images, so that sounds great. :-) Thanks for the link Christine. Will this technique create any problems or perhaps help me avoid problems with my permalinks.

   Yes, that technique is a lot less work.
