Images don't show up on the home page (11 posts)

So I have three posting areas on my home page (http://nmpolitics.net/index): One is the center column, which is the standard posting area. Then there's the sticky post at top. There are also the sideblog postings in the right column (I use the Sideposts widget for that).

In the sticky and sideblog areas, if I upload an image directly from my computer to the posting, the image appears both on the post page and the home page. If I instead pull the image into the post from the archives already uploaded to wordpress, the image appears with the post, but not on the home page.

This makes things a bit cumbersome. And when I use the same image over and over, it's annoying to have to upload a new copy of the image each time I use it.

My theme is Mimbo 3.0. My host is Bluehost.

    Thanks!

    Have you got an example?

Are you using absolute or relative urls?

My site is live, so I don't want to leave an example of it not working posted on the site. I need those images on the home page. But tell me... would it really be helpful to post an example of it not working?

I'm using absolute URLs like this one: http://www.nmpolitics.net/index/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Denish2.jpg

If the wrong url is being referenced, then yeah, it would be helpful to have a quick look at the source code of both working and non-working pages.

Well, if you refer to the posts shown by the sideposts plugin, this is the expected behavior. The plugin only works with the first attached image.

This is specially significant when showing 'excerpts with thumbnails' or 'fotoblogs'. The plugin needs to know the name of the image thumbnail and asks WordPress for this. We cannot rely on the post content, as you can have there a big image, and the plugin needs the thumbnail.

We know about the issue you talk about: You have to upload the image with every post. We are working on it, and looking for success solution to this, at this moment, we didn't find it.

Alright, done. In the posting at the top of the right column on the home page (http://www.nmpolitics.net/index/2009/12/this-is-open-bipartisan-government-at-work/) the "Guest column" image (http://www.nmpolitics.net/index/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Guest-column1.jpg) is the primary image. It doesn't show up on the home page.

In the second article in the right column on the home page (http://www.nmpolitics.net/index/2009/12/when-they-really-enjoy-the-very-best-fatalities/) the photo of Michael Swickard (http://www.nmpolitics.net/index/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Swickard-for-about-page-31.jpg) is the primary image. It does appear on the home page.

Thanks. Again, using the SidePosts widget.

Alright. For the first post. Is this image in the post gallery? Or is an image from the media library? Looks like is from the media library as the post is from december and the image was uploaded on october.

I'm sorry, but by know sideposts only shows thumbnails from post attached images, not from the media library. When you use images from the library WordPress does not keep track of it and tells the plugin that the post have no images.

As said, we know about this issue as it has been discussed before on this forum. We are working to find a solution with the WP developers because the same issue arises on any plugin that relies on attached images.

As soon as we found a solution, we will release a new version of sideposts or will submit a patch to the WordPress core.

BTW, WordPress 2.9 have some changes on image management. We are trying to make it run on the upcoming WordPress 2.9.

Txanny, I am experiencing this exact same issue, did you work out a fix for it? I know this is 6 months old so I am hoping there is a fix.
