Easing Slider "Lite"
[resolved] Images do not load, keep seeing loading icon and blank page (45 posts)

Like the title says: i keep seeing the loading icon and a white screen, the images are not loaded.

I tried pasting the shortcode '[easingslider]' in the html and normal text editor, disabled the jquery, re-activated the slider and reloaded the images.

    What could be the problem?

Hi @frano09, could you link me to the slideshow malfunctioning on your site? I'll take a quick look for you.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay in replying. The v2.0 update has just been released so feel free to give that a try to see if it helps improve things. It may take a few moments for the update to be available in your WordPress admin area.

@frano09, just had a look at your email. Try what I've mentioned above. If you're still having problems we can take it from there :)

I can confirm this issue exists for me as well. Was looking forward to using it too. Was fine on Easing Slider though so not sure what gives. I'll fiddle around in the meantime.

edit: seems to work on a blank slate wp site. Must be a conflict on my end.

I've managed to work out the problem (at least on my end).

When I upgraded from Easing Slider to Riva Slider Lite, my current slide images remained. So I deleted them from the Riva Slider options and proceeded to add new images to the slider and start fresh. It's at this point that it broke.

    What I noticed in the Firebug console was that Riva Slider was STILL requesting the old Easing Slider images even though I'd supposedly removed them from the image list. I did the following to fix it;

    1. Remove Riva Slider Lite, re-install the old Easing Slider.
    2. Remove all the image URLs from the image list in the Easing Slider options.
    3. Save settings.
    4. Remove Easing Slider, install Riva Slider Lite fresh. (or just upgrade)

Problem is resolved. So my advice is to remove all slider images before upgrading.

I have an issue and I guess your solution could work for me, but unfortunately I do not have original easing slider downloaded :( I wish I did not update the plugin at first place.

My slider now shows only 3/4th of the image. I tried everything possible to remove/deactivate/reinstall plugin, remove and restart from the scratch of slider, but nothing helps so far. Any help is much appreciated.

The same issue just happened to me as well after upgrading, and my banner just went blank with an loading icon in the middle. I deactivated Riva Slider Lite, rolled back my plugin files from the latest backup, activated Easing Slider, and all is well now. I'm going to leave it on Easing Slider for the time being while this issue gets worked out.

The update messed up my slideshow images on my website as well!

I tried doing what you did chrisahansen, but I don't know what you mean by "rolled back" your plugin files. How did you do that? Where did you find that file? Was it something you saved in the past? If so, I think I'm out of luck with getting my site back to normal.

The big circular image is back! Ah! Does anyone know how I can get rid of this?

I would recommend you make an occasional backup for these sort of scenarios. Here's the copy I had saved. You'll have to delete Riva Slider, then copy this into your directory, yadda yadda. In hindsight it should've been a .zip, alas.

vlad90, once this is saved to my desktop, I will then upload it to plugins again? And everything should be back to normal?

That's how it was for me. Let me know how you go.

And also, vlad90. I'm not an extremely technical genius so I have another question. The mediafire file was saved to my computer as a .rar file. Will I be able to upload it to the plugins section of admin or must I save it as something else? Help!!!

Knew I shouldn't have made a .rar. My bad. Have a .zip. Uninstall Riva Slider first.

edit: And yes, should be able to install from admin plugin page.

    ONE LAST ISSUE! :(

Whenever the zip file is finished downloading, it automatically un-compresses the file and turns it into a folder. I've tried to upload it like this, did not work. I also tried to compress the file myself, still no luck. Help one for time?! Thank you! vlad90

Mine just hangs. It seems to be trying to load but it just sits there. It's on my home page. This is not good.

yay! thank you vlad90, You saved my day! Though the options to remove rivalite, install easingslider, remove settings and upgrade to riva and add sliders did not work for me, again it was giving the same problem like cutting off my images by 23%. So I set easing slider back in action and gonna leave it there for now until Matthew comes up with a solution. Thank you all!

Great new update! This makes it far better than the other (flash) slideshows. There is enough room for improvement though but it's a very good start, keep up the good work.

Some things i would like to see:

    - show titel below image
    - use random transitions
    - borders (including shadows etc.)

Hey everyone, sorry for the delays. Working on GMT here, so had to get some sleep while all of this was going on!

The update procedure was throughly tested, it all should have went fine. But of course, as always, that isn't normally the case. No matter how much testing is done there always seems to be a few hiccups, so bare with me. I'll be on the forums for the next couple of days extensively, so I will be here to help.

I'd really like to get this sorted for your guys as soon as possible, so if anyone is willing to bite the bullet and upgrade again for me that would be great. Then post a link to your malfunctioning slideshow, and I'll use my browser tools to diagnose.

In upgrading, your old Easing Slider settings will not be deleted, so you can always just roll back. The only way to delete them permanently is to do so via the Riva Slider "Lite" 'Settings' panel.

@jacobslive That sounds like you're having some styling issues. Potentially just a small bug. If you can also link me to your site, I'll get looking at it immediately :)

@frano09 Thank you so much for your praise. The upgrade has been a little rocky, but the codebase is now extremely solid and a great platform for future improvement. A lot more to come! :)

I've created a post with some information on the upgrade, so feel free to have a look at it :)

I think a problem lies in the fact that when RivaSlider deletes old images, it doesn't remove the URL attached to it. I noticed after I deleted the original slides I'd get phantom boxes in the image list before they'd disappear. Hope that info helps.

Hi Vlad, Riva Slider doesn't actually physically delete any images from your WordPress site, so this seems unusual. It uses the default WordPress thumbnails in the admin area, so that should be ok. I'll look into it. Anymore information you can provide would be great, my email is info@matthewruddy.com

Sorry but i'm not technical (hence having a word press web site).

I have just upgraded to Riva Slider and wished i hadn't as i now have a big white cogg covering the whole page, rather than my slide show.. http://www.kartingextremeverbier.com

The odd thing the horrible white cog does not show on my smart phone

Can anyone help (in non Technical terms) or help me unistall this and get the old plug in back?

    Thanks

I'm having the same problem....updated the plugin for my old slider this AM and it automatically went to this one and stopped working.

I've tried editing, un-installing and re-installing. Can't find my old slider.

I did a promo with Dr. Drew yesterday and am getting tons of hits and my homepage is down....how do I fix this and get it to load or go back to my old slider? I searched "easing slider" in plugins and it's no longer there. GREAT timing.

Easing Slider should show up when searching, that is a WordPress.org problem beyond my control.

Here is a link to the older version.

    http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/easing-slider.1.2.1.zip

As mentioned in some of my other posts, v2.0.1.1 seems to have tied up some of the loose ends regarding upgrade problems, so feel free to give that a try before making the choice to downgrade.
