[resolved] Images Broken on Subdomain Sites (4 posts)

I'm having what appears to be a common problem with multi-site installations: broken images. I upload an image to subdomain.domain.com and the image appears broken (just a question mark in a blue box.) I upload the same image to domain.com, which is site 1, and the image displays normally.

I'm using subdomains. I've also read .htaccess could be involved. What is the best multi-site .htaccess and how do I go about debugging this problem?

What's odd is that I can go into the media section of subdomain.domain.com and edit the image -- the image appears perfectly -- but outside of the edit media screen, the image is broken.

Also it makes no apparent difference when I add the following to my .htaccess:

    # Begin WP Mult-Site Code
    RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$1 [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    #End Multi-Site Code
  3. That's... well that's not the whole .htaccess.

    Read http://codex.wordpress.org/Multisite_Network_Administration#.htaccess_and_Mod_Rewrite

    Don't just ADD, replace :)

The codex example of an .htaccess for subdomains did the trick. Thanks.
