Hammy
[resolved] Images blank in IE (7 posts)

    HI

Hammy has been working great on Webkit and Firefox but fails completely on IE 7-9 for me.

It seems to be scrambling the code when it gets inserted, if IE inspector is to be trusted. There is no image link inserted into <img>.

    Thanks
    D

    Hi Dave,

That's weird, any live demos somewhere? Also, are you loading HTML5 shiv for good measure?

    Cheers!

I seem to be having the same issue with ie 7-9. I am loading modernizr with html5 shiv enabled. IE 9 has a place holder for the image but no image. IE 8 and below have no images at all, or a place holder for them.

this is the website that I am using this on http://rcwconsultants.net/

    Hello,

This post is marked as [Resolved] but how it's solved? :)

I have the same issue with IE 6-9 and even with IE 10 when running in Compatibility mode.

    My blog to test: http://blogwithphotos.net

I'm not a big fan of IE, but if there is no solution / workaround for this I may have to disable the plugin. That would be bad as it's doing a great job.

    Thanks!

My Mac-emulated Win7/IE8 seems to show the images at http://blogwithphotos.net/ just fine.

Having this issue as well; this topic doesn't seem resolved in any sense of the word... It looks like yotis disabled the plugin.

First off, this is a great plugin and thanks to Noel for creating it!

It turns out that there are fundamental problems in IE7-9 with scripting the <source> element that Hammy is putting out: http://www.w3.org/community/respimg/2012/03/06/js-implementation-problem-with/

There are workarounds for IE7 & 8 that will enable the <picture> <source> approach to be used, but no sensible workaround for IE9 :(

As it happens the current W3C thinking appears to be moving away from the picture element anyway (see "Meeting Outcomes" - http://www.w3.org/community/respimg/2013/09/18/paris-responsive-images-meetup/) towards srcset on the image tag, so there is probably little to be gained chasing an IE9 polyfill for "picture".

If you change hammy to use the jqueryimage "figure" usage then it works with IE7-9 (and everything else).
