Images available to use when sharing post on Facebook inconsistent (5 posts)

I use the Hupso sharing plugin, and when I go to share a post on Facebook, sometimes there will be several images to choose from, sometimes only one. When it's only one, it's the image I have chosen in the "Social" tab of Yoast WordPress SEO, my SEO plugin, for the image to be used "if the post/page being shared does not contain any images." This is the image that gets listed in the html for meta property='og:image'.

I have the FCH option chosen for "Image for Facebook thumbnail" in Hupso options.

I also use the Post Avatar plugin to display the author's image in the post. This image will sometimes be found when sharing the post on FB, but not always. And when there is more than one image available, there will often be up to 5 or 7 of them, including the website logo, Post Avatar image, and images in the sidebars.

So, my question is, why the inconsistency? How can I make it so that I have more images available to choose from when sharing posts, particularly the the Post Avatar author's image?

I've compared the Source html from two posts, both with only the Post Avatar image in the post, one that Facebook found several images for, and the other that it only found the one image. I can find no difference in the html.

An example page that has this problem is http://www.humortimes.com/20172/florida-7-rows-of-7-stars/

(Note: When I insert another image in the post, that image always available when sharing.)

Facebook will generally show all images that are available in "og:image" tags. If you want to have more images available, then you should have more "og:image" tags.

For example: You have many og:image tags here:
    http://www.humortimes.com/2844/political-cartoon-sampler/

And only one og:image tag here:
    http://www.humortimes.com/20172/florida-7-rows-of-7-stars/

However, for Facebook, images should be at least 200px in both dimensions. If they are not then they might not show up in preview as thumbnails.

But many pages have only one og:image listed in the html, yet a few images are available when sharing, like this page:

I don't understand why this is the case for some posts, and not others. It seems to be consistent with the post authors, however. For example, the above author seems to always have his image available, while this one does not:

I see only one Facebook thumbnail and one og:image tag for both of your pages. So this seems consistent.

Notice that if you change og:image tags, it may take up to 24 hours for Facebook to see the change and to update thumbnails.

That may be, but when you actually go to share on FB, there are differences in what images are available to use, even though both have the author photo. So that's what's inconsistent. Same result after 24 hours.

So, I'm just trying to find a solution, perhaps something in the PHP code that will force the post-avatar image to be included with the og:image list.
