Support » Fixing WordPress » Images are resized when uploading

  • when uploading an image to a post with the new uploader (i’ve tried uploading via the image AND media buttons) they get resized incorrectly and for no reason with the following settings:

    a) size is set to ‘full size’
    b) alignment set to ‘none’
    c) link url ‘none’

i click ‘insert into post’ and the width is reset to ‘500’ (even thought the images actual width is ‘575’) and the height is set to ‘324’ (while the actual height is ‘373’) – WHY?

can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to fix it?

    🙂

  • WP automatically converts your image into several sizes for convenience. A large one, a medium one and a thumbnail. You can change what size those will be in SETTINGS > MEDIA.

The idea is you make sure that the image fits in your theme by letting you make the ‘medium’ size small enough to fit. Then you can upload big images and link to them (so people can see/download the big one if they want) and you can use the thumbnail if you need a small one or whatever.
