   Does Hatch have an image display module or do I need a separate plugin for that? If it does, will it handle vertical images and horizontal?

   Thanks - just getting into WP

   What kind of image module?

   All WordPress sites come with a media gallery and being able to add images and image galleries is part of core feature. You thus do not need a plugin is all your looking to do is add images and galleries to posts.

   Yes both vertical and horizontal images are fine.
