   Hey nice helpers,

   I am new to WordPress and I am running my Blog since a week, but never checked out the upload-possibility.

   Now have I find out that even if I had put my folders (also parent-folders) to 777, the upload would not function correctly.

   Error message: Unable to create directory /var/www/htdocs/s1web180/html/usr_s1web180_1/wp-content/uploads/2007/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
   Back to Image Uploading

   BUT: my host is running a few WordPress-Blogs and there was never a problem...

   So I decided to install the "Filosofo Alten Uploader" Plugin. And now the upload is working.

   Now I have to put in the img src and it work, but it is not an automatical size and very usability-unfriendly.

   My questions: when I use the normal WP upload function will the uploaded image be already fit to the WP blog window, or is it like my plugin and the images are in original-size (so I have to resize every image manualy)?

   And second: can you help me? Why can I use the plugin to upload but not your normal upload-function, which I would like to...?

   My host has said, that everything should be working fine...

   1. WP never resizes automatically the pictures - you always have to resize them manually before uploading!
   1a. Pictures uploaded via the Upload facility in WP get a thumbnail version, too, on the server.

   2. Never used the plugin, so I am clueless.
