• When I try to uplaod a picture into my post I get a box with a red x. I have never had this problem before. I sent the pic to a friend with the same blog and she could post it just fine. I haven’t touched my settings but I was part of the network solutions hacking that happened last week. Any ideas what the problem could be all of the sudden?
    I have read the other posts about this but could not find an answer that helped me.
    Thank you!

  • What is the uploads path in Admin/Settings/Miscellaneous? Have you checked that the image is being uploaded correctly using FTP (or whatever file management application your host provides)?

    My full URL path to files is blank ( the default ). The storing option is also on the default. Is that right?

    That sounds correct. Is the issue only with this image or does it affect all images that you try to upload?

    I have been experiencing the same problem these last couple of days. I tried with different pics and even pics that I have downloadeed in the past. Can some pls help me. Thank you in advance!

    It is all images. I even tried going into an old post and adding another image and I still got the box. So I can’t get any images to work. Thanks for responding so fast!

    Hi,

    Check with these options:

    1) Add this code in .htaccess file of the wordpress blog:

    <IfModule mod_security.c>
    SecFilterEngine Off
    SecFilterScanPOST Off
    </IfModule>

    2) assign 755 recursive permissions of upload folder.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

    I attempted to follow Shane’s suggestion but I cannot find htaccess file. I am not technical 🙁 Someone please help me. This issue started a couple of days ago. I have tried to upload pictures new and other pics that have been uploaded in the past and I keep getting a blank box with a red x in it.

    I would like to try both of these but I am not sure where the .htaccess file is or where to enter #2. Could you be more specific for me? Thanks again!

    @mppblog: Don’t highjack another poster’s thread. Please post a new topic.

    @saraippolito512: Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    I don’t have any active plugins. I am using a Prophoto Theme if I switch to default will I loose all of my blog design?
    Esmi, do you not think I should try Shane’s suggestions?

    If you simply switch themes without deleting any widgets, theme options or themes themselves, all of your current theme’s settings should be saved. You could try Shane’s suggestion or ask your hosts if mod_security is enabled.

    I’m having the same problem on my Worpress (v 2.9.1) site hosted at Network Solutions. Any chance that this is a problem to do with hosting or WP version?
