I was told to start a new topic, so I am. everything was fine until I upgraded to 3.3. Now I can't upload images. It's not the plugins or the theme because I tried them. I heard it's something with the new javascript in the admin or something?

My upgrade has to be manual install because of server environment...

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    - re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

I have the same problem. To fix by "switching to the Twenty Eleven theme". Solved! It works.

I had the same problem after upgrading to 3.3.1. first i thought it was a problem with the upgrading.

so i tried: switching to default theme (no succes) deleted all plugins (no succes)
but is was really a hosting issue for me.

maybe this thread has a solution for u.

    Hi,

I've tried all of this and I even installed WP3.0 and I still get this error when uploading images:

“gssg logo.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory D:\webs\g\i\a\giantschnauzersportsgroup.co.uk\www/wp-content/uploads/2012/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I checked the wp-contents folder and there is no uploads folder but I just did a standard WP install.
Also I checked the permissions of wp-content folder and this is set to 777. There is only one plugin and its deactivated

Im at a loss with this issue and have spent 2 whole days trying different solutions.
Ive trashed the databases and started again with reinstall of everything. Looked at all of these posts and tried everything but it will not work.
I have 2 other WP sites that are working fine on WP3.3.1 but these were upgraded automatically from previous versions. I've just tried adding an image on those sites and it works fine.

I suppose it could be something to do with the hosting server but not sure of what to check or how to get it resolved.

    Someone, PLEASE help me !

My problem was that the tmp dir of the hosting was full so uploading didnt work.

I sent my hosting company an email and they told me the tmp dir was full and they empty it. after that the problem was solved.

So i think u must contact ur hosting company with this issue
