Image size issues

Hi,

How can I make a thumbnail image larger in single.php? So for example, on my homepage I have a post with a small size image and after you click on the ‘read more’ tag the image size should be twice as as big. I’ve seen it on other wordpress sites but have no idea how to achieve this.
