Image Link Insertion (12 posts)

I'm having some trouble with the image links once I insert them into my posts - I use the built-in functions of the editor to change where the link points as attached to the image, but once it's published, it reverts back to pointing to the Archives page and a direct link to the image - this is an issue, as I am linking images to an external site.

What I don't understand is why I got one to work just fine, and now the second one isn't working - I've even manually edited the HTML, and it's STILL not taking the change once it's published. It's very aggravating.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Turn off the wysiwyg editor
admin -> users -> scroll to bottom left.
Also uncheck the box for "WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically"
    admin -> options -> writing

Option to "Correct XHTML" is already unselected, and I just made the change to the user and see what happens.

I honestly don't understand why it would keep reverting, since the first post worked just fine, and now it doesn't want to - the links themselves are generated by Amazon and appear to conform to all of the XHTML stanrdards.

And I just tried to edit the post without the WYSIWYG editor, made the change directly to the HTML - save and go back, and the damn thing has reverted AGAIN.

I'm not doing Adsense - I'm simply taking a picture (of a book) and linking to the coresponding page on Amazon - with a referrer link.

Nothing special about it, should just be a straight forward IMG SRC tag with a A HREF wrapper, right? Well, it keeps undoing my changes and it's getting annoying.

Give an example (here) of what you're doing - and what you're ending up with?

Be sure to enclose your examples with backticks (`) so the forum software here doesn't try to process it. :-)

    <a href=http://link.com><img src="image.jpg"></a>

WordPress sees fit to replace whatever I'm placing with whatever it F'n feels like putting in there - usually a link to the archives page - which is unacceptable.

This blogger may have been doing something similar to what I need to do. I have 2 book covers in my page, or a post. I need them to link to Amazon to buy my books. But when I change the image url, inside my post, the image itself disappears (since it was linked to mysite.wordpress, etc.)

I bet there is a simple way to link an image to another place, but I haven't found it. Also, if I could change the image url, wouldn't that help for tags? Has anyone done this?

So it turns out that I can't do it in Write View mode, which is the obvious place, but I can do it in Code mode, where there is also a link button as the one in the reply box below. That's simple. Now I have helped future readers.

Thanks. But why the attitude, whooami? Everyone that comes to these boards is confused, unhappy, frustrated, sad, humble, and embarrassed that they couldn't figure out a problem on their own. Many many members have searched for hours, days, or in my case, sometimes weeks, trying to learn, trying to figure out something without asking for help.

    Your sarcastic reply is unnecessary.
