I recently discovered the Plugin Manager and the Image Headlines Plugin. I performed the one-click installation and manually installed the TTF font file. Sadly, I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagettfbbox() in /home/twinro00/public_html/wp-content/plugins/image-headlines.php on line 793

    Any thoughts?

Your server's PHP installation does not support freetype library (generating image from true type font) which is required by the plugin.

Prior to installing the plugin I inquired about freetype support and the reply was that freetype1 and freetype2 are both installed.

Apparently not :). The code doesn't lie... if PHP can't find a function, PHP can't find a function. That generally means that the library that provides that function -- in this case FreeType -- hasn't been compiled into PHP. I'd suggest mailing your hosting provider and telling them you get that error.

As was said, if you don't have freetype support, it won't work. You can look at various alternate solutions that might work better on your box. My CG-FlashyTitles is a newer attempt at nice headline fonts, uses the 'sIFR' Flash-based font replacement system on the client side, so the server doesn't need any special functions. There's also probably a few other approaches to server-side image generation that might work on your server, but you'd have to look around.

its more of functionality, for instance, i cant middle click flash images so they open in a new tab, and they translate ... as a blank space by default. its sorta annoying.
