Image gallery with enlarging pictures + slideshow (5 posts)

    Hi,

I'm thinking about adding a sort of gallery to my page with the images I have. I'd like to have thumbnails of the image, images in a row, 1 column, neatly under each other and having the active image enlarged to the right, with a text area between the thumbnails and the enlargement. (Looking under the menu Pagaende Projekt at http://www.deurellarkitekter.se, you'll see how the images are supposed to be lined up)

I'm not sure how this works as I'm new to wordpress. I can add images and get them in a row on my pages, but I don't really know how to get them enlarged on the same page. Now the images just open in a new window.

If poossible aswell, can there a slideshow be implemented aswell? I'm thinking of having "projects", the thumbnails, in a row to the left - the active image, project, enlarged to the right, with text spacing inbetween the thumbnails and the active project. Under the active, enlarged project, are more pictures, which regards the same project just different angles or such. If not a slideshow, just pictures in a horizontal line under the project is fine.

Is this possible or am I way out of my league here?

This is my site http://www.deurellarkitekter.se and I'm running the Twenty Eleven theme (child theme active).

    Thank you for reading.

    Regards,
    Apachez

As far as I understand this, all of it can be done with a gallery plugin like nextgen gallery. That hat slideshow, custom formatting, ...
Maybe you also want to use a lightbox plugin to make the images open in a fancy way...

Great, definately gonna check this plugin out.
But with this plugin, is it still possible to get that area for text between the thumbnails and the enlarged picture?

Hmm... I guess that could be done by heavy css and jquery customizing but there's probably no ready-made solution to what you want. You might have to ask someone to code it for you if you want it.

    Hi,

I've looked into the Nivo Slider, which seems to fit what I'm after, gallery wise. Now the problem is, how do I keep a separate, vertical gallery on the same page, and get the slider to activate once you click on one of the vertical thumbnails?

http://nivo.dev7studios.com/demos/4/ is the gallery I want to activate, once clicking on a thumbnail, in a separate vertical gallery.

    Regards,
    Apachez
