• When I insert an image into a blog post, the drop shadow/image frame isn’t showing up. I have the ‘add frames to all images’ checked off, and it used to work just fine – my first several posts using the theme have frames. In November it just didn’t work anymore, and I’d really like to fix it. Any hints? Nothing’s changed that I know of – they’re just basic JPEGs.

Sure could use some help here. Images that used to have frames (and captions) have dropped them, leaving no margins between the text and images. I’m just talking about regular images on regular pages, nothing fancy w/Lightbox or the photo gallery.

Has anyone upgraded to the current version of WordPress? Would that help the situation, or make it worse?

No, I’m wrong – the captions remain. But the image frames are gone. As those drop shadows are one of the major selling features of this template, I’m REALLY hoping someone has some info on why this is happening all of a sudden.

WordPress version 2.8.4, Firefox version 3.5.7

Hello – it’s hard to tell from here what the problem might be; a WordPress upgrade shouldn’t make any difference.

Is there a chance your web host might have changed PHP versions? If you can find out the version of the PCRE library, that might help – if it’s less than version 7.2 19-Jun-07, then that’ll be the problem. If you can upload files, try uploading a file with the following:

    <?php phpinfo(); ?>

Then open it in a web browser and look for PCRE.

You say you have the add frames option ‘checked off’ – just to be sure, that means it’s checked, and therefore on?

Correct, it’s checked and therefore on.

I’m having someone check into my host (Media Temple); they haven’t got back to me yet re: the version of PHP.

When you say upload a file with <?php phpinfo(); ?> what does that mean (ie how do I upload a file “with” that, where does that go?)

    Thanks Michael, awesome theme.

    Howdy again,

So Media Temple uses an older verion of the PCRE, 6.7 04-Jul-2006. I don’t think they will upgrade it for me.

Is there anything I can do on my end to fix the problem? Any workaround? The image frames are pretty important, because without them there’s almost no margin between images and text.

If there’s nothing I can do, can you advise how to add a margin to the images so text wraps around them with some breathing room? Thanks!

I’m having the same problem with the photo frames not working. The funny thing is I’ve only had this blog, http://www.NelsonNyman.com, setup for about a week. The photo frames where working just fine until yesterday, so I don’t think it is an issue with my servers PCRE version, but I could be wrong.

Any other ideas as to why the photo frames randomly stopped working.

    Thanks in advance.
