Easing Slider "Lite"
[resolved] Image flicker on load (9 posts)

I've got slideshows set up on a clients site, and on some browsers (chrome and IE8/9) the first image is shown for a split second on page load before it disappears and then fades in. Has anyone else had this issue? Any way around this?

Hi @ccoulton, could you link me to the page in question? I'll take a quick look for you.

    http://spacedivision.com/main

    also here:

In chrome, load the page. Then reload the page by selecting the url in the address bar and hitting enter (page refresh by f5 doesn't produce the issue). Hopefully you can reproduce the problem.

Thanks heaps for looking into this for me!

Hi @ccoulton, I see the issue. I'm not entirely sure what is causing it, but I am fairly certain it's some formatting issues coming from the theme.

The slideshow viewport is wrapped inside a <code> element, which shouldn't the be case. This is breaking the layout and consequently the preloaded, which causes the image to flash before it fades away.

How have you inserted your slideshow into the theme? If you're doing this through a Post, make sure the slideshow shortcode [easingsliderlite] is entered when editing the post with the "Text" editor, instead of the "Visual" editor tab. This may prevent the theme from formatting the slideshow incorrectly like this.

I've removed the "code" tag - and the problem still remains. The homepage was the only place that the slideshow was wrapped in the code tag - the projects page (which also had the issue) was not wrapped in the code tag.

i tried not loading the template css at all, and the issue still occurred.

i also tried disabling all other plugins that were loading css into the page. issue was still there (easingsliderlite was the only css loaded into the page).

    :(

Hi @ccoulton, I see. If it's any consolation, it seems like an isolated issue. It's never been reported before, and it's not occurring on any of my sites including easingslider.com.

Have you tried briefly changing theme to see if the issue persists?

Also, try setting the CSS and Javascripts for Easing Slider to load in the page footer instead. This can be done in the "Settings" Easing Slider admin panel. Does this yield better results?

loading the javascript and the css in the footer seems to have fixed the issue. thanks so much for your help!
